Replacing layout elements

If you wish to replace layout elements placed in a layout without deleting the existing layout element and placing the new layout element again, you can use the shortcut menu or the List Layout Elements tool. The new layout element and the original layout element are always placed so that they are congruent.

To replace layout elements using the shortcut menu

1. Click the layout element you want to replace with the right mouse button and choose Properties on the shortcut menu.
2. The Properties palette is displayed. In the Element area, click the document number displayed in the column on the right. In the case of NDW layout elements, click the document name
   or
   click the button beside Document name in the Properties of layout element dialog box.
3. Select the new layout element.
   

To replace layout elements using the List Layout Elements tool

1. List the desired layout elements using the List Layout Elements (How) tool.
   

   Activate List Layout Elements in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Change Layout

   • Toolbar: Basic Tools Layout flyout
   • Palette: Tools Change area in the following module(s):

   Layout

2. Click the layout element you want to replace with the right mouse button and select Replace... on the shortcut menu.
3. Select the new layout element.

Note: When you select Properties... on the shortcut menu, you can use to replace the layout element and modify additional properties in the Properties of layout element dialog box.
