Global X, Y, Z coordinate

Point snap methods

Global X, Y, Z coordinate finds a point based on its global X, Y or Z coordinate (relative to the origin (= global point) of the CAD system (0, 0, 0)).

To enter a global X coordinate

• Check that Global point is active in the dialog line so that you can enter global coordinates. The entries you make are based on the origin (= global point) of the CAD system (0,0,0).

1. Activate a drawing tool.
2. Click in the box beside Global X coordinate and enter a value.

   The unit of length used is the unit currently set in the Options - Desktop environment - General area - Unit of length.

   Tip: You can also enter values for the global Y and Z coordinates. All you need to do is click the relevant data entry box or press the TAB, PAGE UP, SHIFT+TAB or PAGE DOWN keys, which take you to the next box.

   Tip: When you click the icon representing the X, Y or Z coordinate, the icon clicked remains pressed in and the program will suggest the value last entered for the next entry you make.

3. To match the coordinates of an existing point
   • Click the point.
   • For terrain points (with point numbers), enter the character '#' followed by the point number in the Global X coordinate box in the dialog line.
   • Press ENTER to confirm.

     Note: All the entries you make are based on global coordinates until you switch back to relative coordinates by clicking Delta point in the dialog line. Then the entries you make apply to the last point entered or snapped.
