Point snap methods

Reference point places a point on an element that is at a precise distance from a reference point. The reference point can be the end point of an element or a point that you enter.

To place a point at a specific distance from another element

  1. After activating a design tool, click Reference point on the shortcut menu.
  2. Click the element (for example, a line).

    A direction symbol is displayed on the end point of the clicked element. The distance to the clicked point is measured from this point. The distance to the clicked point is displayed in the dialog line.

  4. If you want to enter an offset length, click Offset.

Note: The reference point is displayed as a direction symbol and is located at either the start or the end of the element, depending on which is nearest to the point you clicked.
