Global point

Point snap methods

You can use Global point to enter absolute coordinates in the dialog line. These coordinates are based on the origin (= global point) of the CAD system (0,0,0). You can also get the coordinates of an existing point by clicking it or entering its point number.

To define a point by entering its coordinates

  1. After you have selected a drawing tool, click Global point in the dialog line.

Now you can enter global coordinates. The coordinates of the last point clicked are displayed in the dialog line.

Enter the coordinates in the dialog line.
The unit of length used is the unit currently set in the Options - Desktop environment - General area - Unit of length.

Tip: When you click the icon representing the X, Y or Z coordinate, the icon clicked remains pressed in and the program will suggest the value last entered for the next entry you make.

  2. To match the coordinates of an existing point
  3. Press ENTER to confirm.

Note: All the entries you make are based on global coordinates until you switch back to relative coordinates by clicking Delta point in the dialog line. Then the entries you make apply to the last point entered or snapped.
