General information on the Object Manager module

You can use the Object Manager module to enhance any existing or scanned-in drawings and to assign additional attributes. The drawing itself stays the same; you simply add further information without having to change the drawing. As the possible applications of this module are so widespread, you can customize it for your needs so that it is best suited to the task at hand.

Based on an existing layout, you generate new surface objects and line objects or create any objects from existing elements. Hatching styles, patterns or fills can be assigned to these new objects for better orientation. In addition, you can label them. When defining objects or whenever required, you can assign any attributes, which can then be exported in the form of lists to external programs (e.g. Microsoft Excel or your own applications) and further processed.

When you re-import the data edited in external programs to Allplan, the attributes you have already assigned will update accordingly, and if you have entered additional data in an external program, Allplan will even create new attributes.

Possible applications:

• Managing cleaning areas
  You can define surface objects based on existing data; this way, you have automatically determined the position and exact size of these areas. You can export the data to an external program, where you can assign a cleaner and price per m² to every area element. Then you can re-import the attributes to Allplan. Now you can print the complete layout including all the information and give it to the cleaners. This way, all the required cleaning tasks can be managed using an Office program; any CAD knowledge is not required.
• Managing office space
  e.g. with room numbers, current occupancy, telephone numbers, names, tasks and so on.
  A telephone list, which is required in any case, can be used for updating a schedule of building occupancy.
• Managing selling space and much more
• Some elements, such as lines, polylines, circles and 3D objects, can be "redefined" in a special manner: they are given a new object name and additional attributes. This way, a column converted to a 3D object can be turned into a downspout, for example. In subsequent quantity takeoff operations, the new object name and the corresponding attributes of the "new" component are analyzed and evaluated, and the results can be output in all the common lists and reports.

Note: You can only combine 2D elements and 3D objects into a general object. Architectural elements cannot be used.
